Ryder was born October 1st, 2010 at Vom
Springer Kennels in Ogallala, Nebraska.
He spent his first eight weeks there before being transported to
Aberdeen, South Dakota where he would spend the next eight weeks with foster
trainer Bev Schwartz from All-Purpose
Canines.
At the end of January (2011) he was transported by Pilots-N-Paws pilot Denis Miller from
Aberdeen, South Dakota to Sioux Falls, South Dakota where he would spend the
night with Denis and his wonderful fiancιe Deborah. The following day he was
flown from Sioux Falls down to Omaha, Nebraska where he would spend the night
with Pilots-N-Paws pilot Alan Lindsay
and his lovely wife Kathy. That night they set him up comfortably in the spare
bedroom but rumor has it the next morning when Alan got up he found Ryder sound
asleep and snuggled up in bed with Kathy.
The next day Pilots-N-Paws
pilot Dave Morris flew from Texas to Omaha to pick up Ryder. Dave wanted to get
Ryder home to Texas as soon as possible so he turned around and flew him back
the very same day. He told us to meet him at the Roanoke airport at 6:00 PM. We
got there right on time and were waiting where he told
us to meet him when we saw the plane making its approach to land. We were so
excited and couldn't wait to see Ryder. That's when it happened, as Dave
touched down one of his tires blew out! When you're in a small plane and only
have three tires this is a very perilous situation. Luckily Dave is an
experienced pilot and was able to keep everything under control and bring the
plane to a safe stop.
We brought Ryder home that night, his adventure as a
service dog in training and ultimately my service dog had begun.

At nine months of age Ryder was
removed from service dog training. On several occasions he had shown to be
overly protective and aggression of any sort is not acceptable from a service
dog. Ryder will be going back to live with his foster trainer Bev in South
Dakota with his brother Max and Baxter's sister Bonnie.
